Microsoft has finally announced that the much-requested 64GB LTE surface 2 will be available from today at Microsoft retail stores, and Best Buy in the U.S for $679. The price includes 200GB of free OneDrive storage for 2 years.

“In launching this new version of Surface 2, we’re helping you stay connected anywhere you might find yourself” said Panos Panay, Microsoft’s corporate vice president in charge of the Surface. The LTE connectivity enables users to make last-minute purchases via apps like Amazon and eBay.

Everything else is the same as in the current Surface 2. It features a 10.6-inch 1920 x 1080 full HD display with a pixel density of 208pixels per inch. The 64GB model boasts increased speed and battery life compared to its predecessor, a dual-positioned kickstand, Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 RT and Outlook 2013 RT and a full-size USB 3.0 port.

The surface 2 with LTE is capable of accepting any GSM micro-SIM card but the tablet supports LTE bands 4, 7 and 17 along with 3G UTMS and regular old GSM. AT&T customers can add the 4G LTE to an existing Mobile share plan for $10 per month or choose from a variety of standalone plans. Both pre-paid and post-paid customers can get 250MB for $14.99 per month, 3GB for $30 per month, or 5GB for $50 per month.
